Each tab helps perform tasks in Excel in a unique way.

All you need to do is click the record macro option to start the recording and to stop the recording, click it again.  Once you start recording, you will obtain a macro window under which you can provide a name to the macro, a shortcut key and also add the description.  Similarly, you can also use the VBA in the developer tab's code section.

Moving forward, the developer's add-in tab helps install Excel add-ins. It provides an option to add Add-ins from the office store or use already-existing add-ins like Solver, Analysis Toolpak, map, and Power Pivot.

The third section of the developer tab is Controls. As the name suggests, the controls help establish control buttons such as checkboxes, combos, images, toggle scroll bars, and more.
